“I’m Fine” – Learning To Live With Depression | Jake Tyler
A talk by Jake Tyler shows us that we can easily become trapped by depression, but it can also be overcome by talking about it and joining together as communities:
We will often hide how we feel behind simple words which tell others we are doing okay, when actually we are not. It becomes a skill within itself as we hide away our true feelings, not wanting to impose our depression upon others. This leaves you hiding within yourself not being able to deal with it in any way.
Feeling isolated and trapped inside is not the way forward. It is only from the aid of others, and from that speaking up about how we are feeling that we can really get the help we need. After his own help, Jake decided that being outside more and exploring was a great way of defeating depression once and for all and inspiring others to do the same.
You may feel like people will not understand how you are feeling. But you are not alone, and simply opening up, just a little will show you that people will be there for you anyway they can. You will see that there are many others in the same situation as you, and together we can join forces for the good of all.
